How to blur faces in a video
A still is easy to cover. A clip of kids running, or a talking-head with someone in the background, is where most tools leak a face for a frame or two. Here is how to cover every frame on your device, without uploading the video.
Step by step
- Open the video editor and pick a clip up to 30 seconds.
- Let on-device detection find faces. Tracking follows them as they move; add a manual box for anyone it missed.
- Choose a cover - Blur is the default, Redact or Sticker if you want it obvious - and play the preview through.
- Export the new file. Audio is kept, faces are overwritten on every frame, and the original stays on your device.
Kids running and other motion
A sports day or a toddler sprinting across the garden will move the face a long way between frames. BlurBaby detects on a stride and tracks in between, then paints a cover large enough for hair and jaw, not just the skin box the detector returned. Scrub the preview. If a forehead or an ear peeks out on a hard turn, enlarge the box before you export.

Clips longer than 30 seconds need a trim first. That limit is the on-device budget: every frame is decoded, covered, and re-encoded on your phone or laptop, not on a server.
Why the video must not leave the device

Does the export keep the audio?
Yes. The soundtrack is preserved. Only the picture is re-encoded with the covers baked in.
Can a frame still show an eye or a hairline?
Play the preview end to end before you export. If a face turns sharply, drag the cover larger. The saved file is what you previewed - there is no second server pass.
Is a regular video blur enough?
Usually not. An ordinary blur smears the real pixels and can be reversed. BlurBaby erases the face first, then paints a synthetic cover, the same way the photo editor does.
